Big Rapids, Mich. - Five members of the Ferris State University women's soccer team have earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors for the 2019 season as the league unveiled its postseason award recipients on Thursday on the even of the league semifinals.
Ferris State, which has advanced to the GLIAC Semifinals, had three first-team representatives in the all-conference balloting. The group included sophomore forward Pia Nagel (Karlsruhe, Germany) along with junior midfielder Bri Rogers (Livonia) and senior defender Tia VanSuilichem (Caledonia). All three garnered All-GLIAC First Team laurels for the second-straight year.
Meanwhile, junior forward Mackenzie Dawes (DeWitt) garnered All-GLIAC Second Team accolades with junior Maddie Dickens (DeWitt) attaining honorable mention recognition in voting by the league's member head coaches. Dawes claimed all-league honors for the first time in her collegiate career while Dickens was a repeat honoree.
This season, Nagel currently ranks as the Bulldogs leading scorer with a team-high 33 points on 13 goals and seven assists in 19 contests. Her totals also include three game-winners and she ranks as one of the league's top goal scorers and point producers this year.
Rogers has appeared in all 19 games and totaled 18 points on six goals and six assists as FSU's third-leading scorer this season. She's also notched a game-winner and has two penalty kick goals for the Bulldogs. This past week, she was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
The Bulldogs' VanSuilichem has recorded 10 points with three goals and four assists from the back end in 19 games this campaign, ranking as one of the league's top defensive honorees.
Dawes is presently Ferris State's second-leading scorer with 22 points on seven goals and eight assists in 18 outings. She's also totaled 38 shots and has two game-winning goals this season. In addition, she was also recently chosen to the academic all-district first team.
Finally, Dickens has played in all 19 contests with a goal and four assists for six points to go with a game-winner and 28 shots this season, earning all-conference recognition for the second time in her collegiate career.
Ferris State, which is currently 13-4-2 overall under first-year head coach Greg Henson, will take on the Grand Valley State Lakers in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals in Allendale on Friday (Nov. 15) at the GVSU Soccer Field starting at 5 p.m. (ET). The championship match is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. (ET) in Allendale.
Heading into the league semifinals, the Bulldogs are currently ranked ninth in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings this week and will be looking to move up with the official NCAA selection announcement set for Monday at 6 p.m. (ET) at NCAA.com.
