Postgame Interview & Highlights
Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University women's soccer squad hosted Northern Michigan University Tuesday (Nov. 11) in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Quarterfinals and suffered a 2-0 setback to the Wildcats.
The Bulldogs (8-5-6, 8-3-3 GLIAC) had their season ended by the Wildcats (7-7-5, 6-6-2 GLIAC) with the loss. Ferris State had won five of its previous six games before Tuesday's defeat and was undefeated in that six-game stretch.
In Tuesday's loss, sophomore goalkeeper Korinne Ihrke made three saves. She finished her second year as a Bulldog with a 7-5-6 overall record, five shutouts and 75 saves.
Neither team scored in the first half. NMU had two shots on goal and FSU had three. Ihrke made both saves while NMU goalkeeper Jillian Thompson stopped all three shots she faced in the first 45 minutes.
The Wildcats scored their first goal at 49:38. Hannah Kastamo tallied her sixth goal of the season with Addison Frantti collecting an assist. Northern Michigan made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal from Kenna Alexander at 69:43.
For the game, Ferris State had four shots on goal, six corner kicks and five fouls. Northern Michigan had five shots on goal, two corner kicks and five fouls.
Haley Buckman led the team with two shots on goal. Katherine Welch and Isabella Baron each had one. Welch, Bella Vallone, Lauren McCaul, Ella Wolf and Annie Hartley each played 90 minutes.
The Bulldogs will now turn their attention to the offseason in preparation for their 2026 campaign.
