Two Ferris State Volleyball Standouts Tabbed As 2025 AVCA D2 All-Americans
Big Rapids, Mich. - Two Ferris State University women's volleyball standouts, sophomores Gabby Piazza (Shorewood, Ill.) and Emily May (Coopersville) have been named to the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-America team.
The awards were announced on Wednesday in conjunction with the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The 2025 All-Americans include 42 players—14 on the first, second, and third teams—from 26 schools, and 117 honorable mention selections.
Both Piazza and May garnered All-America accolades for the first time in their respective careers and both previously were named to the 2025 AVCA All-Midwest Region Team.
Overall, a total of 26 different Bulldog student-athletes in history have now earned AVCA All-America honors. This year represents the 14th time in 15 years, outside of the 2021 spring COVID season, in which FSU has had at least one All-America student-athlete in volleyball.
The Bulldogs will square off against top-seeded and unbeaten Tampa in the national quarterfinals on Thursday (Dec. 11) night with first serve set for 8 p.m. (ET) at the Sanford Pentagon. The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
With a win on Thursday in the quarterfinals, the Bulldogs would advance to the NCAA D2 National Semifinals and play the 8 p.m. (ET) match again on Friday (Dec. 12) night. The national championship match is scheduled for Saturday (Dec. 13) at 6 p.m. (ET) in Sioux Falls.
This year marks the Bulldogs' second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.
