Ferris State Volleyball Adds West Florida Transfer Hitter Ana Colon
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball program, which has made back-to-back NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearances, has announced the addition of transfer outside hitter Ana Colon ahead of the 2026 season.
The 6-0 Colon, who hails from Niceville, Fla., spent her freshman campaign in 2025 at the University of West Florida. She played in 28 matches for the Argonauts, making 19 starters in her debut season while posting 236 kills on 588 swings with 21 aces, 137 digs and 18 blocks.
"Ana is a young, but experienced player who has the ability to help us in all six rotations," said FSU head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm. "She is a physical attacker and complimented by her all-around athleticism on the court. We are so excited for Ana to continue her career as a Bulldog."
Prior to her time at West Florida, Colon had a standout prep career and earned numerous honors, including being named to the 2022 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Phenom list. She was the most valuable player of the 2023 Mississippi Gulf Coast Open in the 16 and under division along with being tabbed the top performer in the 2023 Prep Dig Sunshine Qualifier Showcase.
Colon also garnered all-tournament team honors in the 16U premier division at the 2023 MLK Ft. Lauderdale Invitational and was the her high school varsity offensive player of the year as a sophomore. She was a Northwest Florida All-Area First Team pick and tabbed as her squad's MVP during her high school career. Additionally, she played club volleyball at the 850 Elite Volleyball Academy.
Ferris State, which compiled a 27-8 overall last year, made its second consecutive NCAA D2 Elite Eight appearance and the fifth in program history. FSU also advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the 29th time in program history, including the 14th consecutive year, while also capturing the GLIAC Regular Season Championship last fall.
