Ferris Sports Update TV Show Now Available On Comcast Xfinity
Big Rapids, Mich. - The popular Ferris Sports Update television
show now has expanded broadcast coverage with the addision of
Xfinity Channel 900 on Comcast, which will carry the show four
times per week to subscribers throughout Michigan.
Ferris Sports Update, a half-hour interview show profiling Ferris
State Athletics, will be offered on Xfinity Channel 900 on
Wednesday's at 5:30 p.m. (ET), Thursday's at 1 p.m. (ET) and 7:30
p.m. (ET) along with Friday's at 3 p.m. (ET). The airings
begin this week on Xfinity Channel 900, which is available to
Comcast subscribers in the state of Michigan, including the metro
Detroit and Grand Rapids areas.
The coverage on Comcast's Xfinity Channel 900 is yet another
avenue providing for mass distribution of the show. It also
airs across most of Northern Michigan on Fox 32 each Thursday night
at 10:30 p.m. (ET) throughout the year in addition to local airings
throughout the week on Ferris Television via Charter Cable and
coverage on the Grand Rapids Community College local access channel
in the Grand Rapids area.
Additionally, the show can be watched on an on-demand streaming
basis at FerrisState.tv and segments of the show are offered via
the official FSU Athletics website and multimedia portal at FerrisStateBulldogs.com along with various university
social networking platforms.
The show is produced by Ferris State University's Television and
Digital Media Production (TDMP) students in partnership with the
Bulldog Athletics Department. The host of the show is FSU Assistant
Athletic Director for Communications Rob Bentley,
who also serves as a local radio voice for the Bulldogs and is in
his 13th year working for Ferris State Athletics. The 30-minute
program is taped and produced in a studio within the
Interdisciplinary Resource Center (IRC) Building on the FSU
campus.
Ferris Sports Update affords a unique opportunity for Bulldog fans
to get information pertaining to Ferris State athletics while also
providing insight from the respective FSU varsity athletic programs
from its coaches, student-athletes and support staff. The show
includes features on Ferris State student-athletes along with
selected highlights from Bulldog Athletics events.
The students in the class producing the show are under the
direction of department chair and faculty advisor Glen
Okonoski with assistance from faculty professor
Fred Wyman, engineer Pat Tobin
along with streaming media professor Connie
Morcom. Ferris Media Production faculty member
Steve Cox coordinates the airing of the show on
Ferris Cable.
Funding for the show is made possible thru a joint effort between
FSU Athletics, the Ferris State Admissions Department along with
the College of Education and Human Services.
