MLive.com Debuts "Crimson & Gold Report"
Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University Athletics fans have yet another way in which to keep up with the Bulldogs as a popular statewide website recently debuted a new online blog titled the "Crimson & Gold Report" focusing on the Bulldogs.
The blog, which will be authored by local journalist and FSU graduate Sandy Gholston, can be found live via the blogs section at Mlive.com and is presently up and running.
The "Crimson & Gold Report" will highlight the latest news, rumors and opinions involving Ferris State Athletics and can be found at http://blog.mlive.com/crimson_and_gold_report. A direct link is also available under the "multimedia" tab at www.ferrisstatebulldogs.com (look for Crimson & Gold Report).
MLive.com is an essential 24/7 news, information and social interaction network that collects many sources to inform, engage and entertain. While the "Crimson & Gold Report" will also have a direct focus on Bulldog Athletics like the "Bulldog Athletics Blog", Gholston plans to offer different content between the two sources throughout the year with the "Crimson & Gold Report" intended for a broader statewide audience.
Gholston previously served as a sports reporter and assistant sports editor for the Big Rapids Pioneer. A native of Detroit, Mich., Gholston has covered Ferris State athletics for more than 14 years. He started covering Bulldog athletic events as an undergraduate student at FSU in 1996, working as a sports reporter for the campus' student newspaper, The Torch.
Gholston began his career in May 1997 with The Pioneer. In that time, he won several awards for his coverage of FSU Athletics including a first-place Associated Press Award for "Sustained Coverage of a Single Sports Event" in his reporting on the tragic death of a Ferris State Football student-athlete in the fall of 2002.
In addition, he also received the 2003 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Media Service Award and the 2002 United States Tennis Association's Fred Burns Journalism Award for his coverage of Ferris State Athletics along with being a finalist for the 2004-05 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Grant Burger Media Award after being chosen as the national recipient in the print journalism category.
