FSU Athletics Contributes To Make-A-Wish
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University Athletics
Department, in conjunction with Bulldog student-athletes, recently
presented a check for $1,419.32 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Bulldogs' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
coordinated a fundraising effort among the school's 17 varsity
teams this past athletics season to contribute to NCAA Division
II's national alliance with the Make-W-Wish Foundation, a global
charity that grants the wishes of children with life-threeatening
medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope,
strength and joy.
Each Bulldog program contributed to the cause with the volleyball,
football and hockey programs finishing in the top three,
respectively. Contributions came from change collections
involving the 17 teams along with t-shirt sales at the department's
annual Senior Send-Off.
Four SAAC members were on hand to help present the check,
including seniors Tina Muir (Women's Track/CC),
Erin Fuchik (Women's Golf), Tricia
Principe (Women's Basketball) and junior Jordan
Morgan (Football).
In the spirit of service, NCAA Division II student-athletes,
coaches, administrators, parents, fans, friends and communities
across the country are working hard to make a difference in the
lives of Make-A-Wish® families through their fundraising
efforts. Since inception, NCAA Division II has raised more than
$1.9 million in support of the Make-A-Wish mission. All are working
toward the same cause – to grant the most heartfelt wish of
every eligible child in the United States. Your donation today will
help us achieve this vision and bring smiles to wish kids and their
families.
FSU student-athletes and teams, in partnership with General Mills
Community Action and Yoplait, often take part in community
service-related projects in an effort to "give back" to the local
community.
Bulldog athletes and coaches spend numerous hours in local schools
and contribute to a wide array of organizations in the local area
and surrounding communities. At General Mills Community Action,
they work to Nourish Lives in our communities with breakthrough
ideas, and championship people. That means having an impact that
enriches the lives of children and families and enhances the health
and vitality of neighborhoods and cities across the U.S.
