FSU Athletics Keeping Fans Informed

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University Athletics Department continues its efforts to keep fans informed using the latest technological resources and recently a few important social networking milestones were reached.

The Bulldogs' official facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/ferrisathletics) recently saw the addition of its 1,000th fan since its debut last spring.  Additionally, FSU also posted its 1,500th tweet and added its 300th follower this past week on its official twitter site (www.twitter.com/ferrisathletics),which also began in the summer of 2009.

Both sites are maintained by the FSU Athletics Communications Office along with the school's official website at www.ferrisstatebulldogs.com, which launched prior to the start of the 2009-10 athletics season last August.

Since the launch of www.ferrisstatebulldogs.com, the website has received an average of more than 2,000 visits per day with over 50,000 monthly visits each of the last six months. The website has had a total of 414,538 visits since its debut with nearly 4.5 million pages accessed as of March 13 in tracking data provided by the site's provider, Presto Sports.

The school's official website includes all the latest news, scores, results and more covering each of FSU's 15 varsity athletics programs.  It is updated on a daily basis and also offers video, audio clips, photos, blog links and more for fans interested in keeping up to date with all the action.

The new athletics website also includes a unique design and a number of innovative features putting athletics administrators in complete control of the look and content within the site. Some of the distinctive features that have been implemented on the Bulldogs' new online home include interactive statistics, video clips, rotating feature stories and links to Ferris State's various social networking platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

Besides FSU's facebook and twitter pages, the department also maintains an official page on the popular online video platform YouTube at www.youtube.com/ferrisathletics and offers pertinent text alerts via Tatango for mobile devices.  Live audio & video webcasts are also offered for selected events throughout the year.
