Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads will host archrival Grand Valley State in the annual West Michigan rivalry clash on Saturday, Jan. 28, at FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) twinbill begins with the women's contest at 1 p.m. (ET) followed by the men's game at approximately 3 p.m. (ET).  It is part of a tripleheader inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex as the 10th-ranked Bulldog Hockey team entertains 16th-ranked Michigan State at 7:05 p.m. (ET).

Tickets for Saturday's doubleheader will be sold on gameday at Wink Arena and are $7 for adults or $5 for FSU faculty/staff, senior (ages 65+) and students K-12.  Current FSU students are admitted free by showing a valid student ID card.  For more ticket info, please call the FSU Athletics Ticket Office at (231) 591-2888.

Saturday's game versus Grand Valley State marks the second of FSU's four "Kidz Dayz" events sponsored by Jet's Pizza.  All children in grades K-12 are free with a paid adult and a number of special kids activities will take place, including face painting, a bounce house, photos with Brutus the Bulldog and more.

Additionally, one lucky fan on Saturday will have an opportunity to win $10,000 in a shot sponsored by Lake Osceola State Bank.

The Bulldog women's squad currently owns sole possession of first place in the GLIAC North Division standings while the FSU men's team was also tied for first place in the division heading into the week.

The Bulldog women's basketball squad has won six consecutive games to date and holds a 12-4 overall mark along with a 9-1 league record.  Ferris State's men's team is 10-7 overall this campaign and 7-3 in the GLIAC.

On the opposite side, Grand Valley State's women's team is presently 9-9 overall and 6-5 in league play while the Laker men are currently 10-7 overall and 6-5 in the GLIAC.

Last season, Ferris State established a new Jim Wink Arena record crowd with 2,443 fans for its exciting 82-80 men's basketball overtime home setback to GVSU in the regular-season finale (Feb. 26). It topped the previous mark of 2,430 fans who attended the Bulldogs' matchup with GVSU three years ago (2/23/08).  Four of the five largest crowds in the building's 13-year history have came during the rivalry matchup.

Both of Saturday's games will be carried live by the Bulldog Sports Network and Sunny 97.3 FM with Rob Bentley calling the play-by-play coverage and Sandy Gholston offering color commentary.  They will be available online at www.FerrisStateBulldogs.com.  Additionally, a live pay-per-view video webcast and live internet statistics will also be offered.

Saturday's doubleheader opens a five-game homestand for both of the Ferris State basketball squads.
