GLIAC Tourney Matchups Set For FSU Basketball

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament quarterfinal-round matchups have been set for the Ferris State University men's and women's basketball teams.

The Bulldog women's basketball squad will be the number two overall seed in the tournament and host seventh-seeded Findlay on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at Jim Wink Arena.  Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. (ET).

Meanwhile, the FSU men's basketball team drew the number five overall seed after earning a share of the GLIAC North Division Championship and will travel to fourth-seeded Michigan Tech for quarterfinal-round action on Wednesday.  Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. (ET) inside MTU's Student Development Complex Gymnasium.

Advance ticket sales for Wednesday's women's quarterfinal home game will go on sale Tuesday morning and can be obtained by contacting the FSU Athletics Ticket Office located in the Ewigleben Sports Complex. Ticket prices for the league quarterfinal are $8 for adults or $2 for all students older than age five, including college students with identification. All seats are general admission and no regular-season passes of any type such as FSU Sixth Dawg Club or all-sports passes will be accepted per league tournament regulations.

The ticket office is open daily from 9 a.m. (ET) to 5 p.m. (ET) and will remain open on Wednesday leading up to the quarterfinal game that evening with the doors to Wink Arena opening at 6 p.m. For additional information, please contact the FSU Athletics Ticket Office at (231) 591-2888.

The first 200 students attending Wednesday's game will be admitted free while the first 50 students to arrive will receive championship t-shirts

The quarterfinal-round winners in both the men's and women's tournaments will advance to the GLIAC Tournament semifinals and finals set for Saturday and Sunday, March 3-4, at the site of the highest remaining seed in each field.

The winner of both the men's and women's GLIAC Tournaments receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament slated to be held March 9-12 (women) and March 10-13 (men) at locations yet to be determined.

Ferris has posted a 8-11 overall record in 12 previous league women's basketball tournament appearances and will be making its first appearance in the women's field since the 2008-09 campaign when FSU advanced to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals for the third-straight time.

The Bulldog men are 10-14 all-time in 12 previous tournament appearances and reached the GLIAC Tournament Championship game as the host institution last year. Ferris captured the 1997-98 league tourney title and will be making its seventh appearance in the last eight years, including a fourth consecutive showing.

The women's team enters postseason play with a 20-5 overall mark and won this year's GLIAC North Division Championship with a 17-2 overall league record.

The Bulldog men's basketball team concluded the regular-season with a 16-10 overall record and finished tied with both Michigan Tech and Northwood for the GLIAC North Division Championship as all three teams posted 13-6 marks in league play.  MTU won the tiebreaker nod for the fourth seed and the right to host the opening round.
