#14 FSU Hosts #10 Miami This Weekend
Big Rapids, Mich. - The unbeaten Ferris State University men's ice hockey team, which has cracked this week's national rankings, will officially open Central College Hockey Association (CCHA) action at home this weekend (Oct. 21-22) against Miami (Ohio) at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.
Opening faceoff between the nationally 14th-ranked Bulldogs and 10th-ranked RedHawks will be at 7:05 p.m. (ET) on both Friday and Saturday nights.
Tickets for the weekend series are on sale and can be purchased by contacting the FSU Athletics Ticket Office at 231-591-2888. The FSU Athletics Ticket Office's normal hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ET). The ticket office will also offer extended hours until 7 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday's throughout the season and be open on hockey home game Saturday's at 12 p.m. (ET).
Single-game tickets may also be purchased by contacting Star Tickets at 1-800-585-3737 or online at Star Tickets website: www.startickets.com. Tickets are also available at all Meijer store locations in West Michigan and at the Student Services Office in the FSU Rankin Student Center.
One lucky fan will have a special opportunity to win $50,000 by scoring from the redline on Friday night in a promotion sponsored by Time 2 Travel. An autograph night will take place Saturday evening after the game in the concourse featuring three Bulldog players.
The Bulldogs own a current 4-0 mark this campaign after a sweep over the RPI Engineers this past weekend (Oct. 14) at home. FSU took game one by a 4-0 score on Friday (Oct. 14) before earning the shutout sweep with a 2-0 victory on Saturday (Oct. 15) night in Big Rapids.
On the opposite side, Miami enters this weekend's action with a 2-2 mark on the year as both teams get set to open conference competition. The RedHawks posted a two-game split with Colgate on the road in non-league play over the weekend and were picked to finish second in both the 2011-12 CCHA Preseason Media and Coaches Polls.
Friday's game will be carried live on the Bulldog Sports Network and Sunny 97.3 FM with Dominic Hennig calling the play-by-play action and Dan Kowalski offering color commentary. Saturday's game will not be available on local radio due to Ferris State football coverage at Grand Valley State.
