Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team returns to home ice this weekend (Jan. 6-7) for a non-league series against nationally ninth-ranked Colgate at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.
The Bulldogs, who are ranked 17th nationally this week, will take on one of college hockey's top scoring offenses when the Raiders visit Big Rapids. Friday's (Jan. 6) series opener is slated for a 7:05 p.m. (ET) start with Saturday's (Jan. 7) finale scheduled for a special starting time of 4:05 p.m. (ET). The two games are the first for the Bulldogs at home in 26 days since Dec. 9 and it marks the first home series of the New Year.
Colgate enters the weekend series with a 12-4-2 overall record and the Raiders' lineup includes the nation's top goal scorer in Austin Smith (19 goals). They are unbeaten in their last seven contests. Meanwhile, FSU owns a 11-8-1 mark to date this campaign and has been a top 10-ranked team for much of the season. Ferris State is currently fifth in the country in scoring defense (2.10 pg.) while Colgate is 10th in scoring offense (3.39 pg.). The Bulldogs own a 6-1-1 mark this year at home heading into the weekend.
