Bulldogs Win Home Opener In Strong Fashion

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team took advantage of its home court to record a 9-0 non-league win over Davenport in its 2012 home opener on Tuesday (Feb. 21) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The host Bulldogs improved to 3-1 overall this season with the win over the Panthers, who fell to 5-3 on the year.

The match was the initial home contest of the season for the Bulldogs and they wasted little time in getting off to strong start.  FSU jumped ahead 3-0 following the doubles round with victories at all three positions.

In singles play, FSU took all six flights in convincing fashion by winning each in straight-sets.

The match finished off a stretch in which the Bulldogs played four matches in a seven-day span with the first three away from home.

FSU is idle until March 4 when the Bulldogs begin a four-match road stretch over the spring break period.  Ferris State begins the trip to Missouri and Indiana by facing Rockhurt (Mo.) in a neutral site match at St. Louis, Mo.
