The Ferris State University Athletics Department will be stepping to the plate to help strike out breast cancer this Wednesday (April 14) afternoon for Digital Mammography Day at the FSU Varsity Softball Field in Big Rapids, Mich.
Fundraising activities will be held this Wednesday during and between both games of the Ferris State softball team's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader against the Grand Valley State Lakers. Game one will start at 3:30 p.m. (EDT) with the second game to follow around 5:30 p.m. (EDT).
The in-game activities will include a Pot O' Gold raffle in which the winner could possibly win $99. The between-game events will feature a special "Chuck It From The Cheap Seats" tennis ball toss with the winner receiving a special prize donated by the Mecosta County Medical Center.
A special activity prior to the start of the contest will be a ceremonial first pitch thrown out by a local breast cancer survivor.
The funds raised from the activities will be donated for Mecosta County Medical Center Foundation's digital mammography campaign.
