Bulldogs Remain 10th In NCAA Softball Regional Rankings

The Ferris State University softball team remains in 10th place in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Region rankings as released Wednesday (April 21) by the NCAA-II Softball Committee.
The Bulldogs, who are presentlyly 20-14 overall and are 11-7 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) this season, were listed 10th in the previous (April 14) regional rankings. In this most recent (April 21) rankings poll, fellow conference members Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State switched placings with WSU now occupying the top-place position and SVSU being listed third.
The top eight teams in each of the eight NCAA-II regions will qualify for NCAA Regional Tournament competition. The top two teams within each region will have an opportunity to host a sub-regional tournament on May 14-16. The winners of each sub-regional will play each other in the super regional (May 21-22) with the winner advancing to the 2010 NCAA-II Softball Championships (May 27-31) at Heritage Park in St. Joseph, Mo.
The eight regions consist of Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West.
Ferris State, under the direction of head coach Keri Becker, will be tested this weekend (April 24-25) with a pair of road conference doubleheaders versus two nationally-ranked teams. The Bulldogs visit 17th-ranked Saginaw Valley State this Saturday (April 24) and then square off against ninth-ranked Wayne State on Sunday (April 25).
