Ferris State's Sarah DeShone Picks Up GLIAC Recognition
Big Rapids, Mich. - For the second time this season, Ferris State University junior guard Sarah DeShone (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown) has earned the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honor.
The announcement was made by the conference office and includes all games played in the league between Dec. 10 and 19.
DeShone had both a game-high 24 points and a contest-best nine rebounds in the Bulldogs' 68-66 league road win at the University of Findlay last Saturday (Dec. 15) inside Croy Gymnasium. She also hit the go-ahead jumper in the final minute to lift the Bulldogs to the triumph and converted nine-of-15 field goals along with making two-of-four three's and all four of her free throw attempts.
On Monday (Dec. 17), DeShone posted 27 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor while adding five assists and four rebounds in FSU's 76-63 win at Hillsdale. For the week, she averaged 25.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per contest.
Presently, DeShone is averaging a team-high 21.8 points per game for the Bulldogs to date this season and has led FSU to a 6-3 overall mark along with a 5-1 league record heading into the holiday break.
The Bulldog women's basketball team will return to action by hosting league newcomer Malone on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 8 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena. FSU then hosts Walsh on Saturday, Jan. 5, beginning at 3 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.
