Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University senior runner Tina Muir (St. Albans, U.K.) has added to her list of accomplishments as she was recognized on Wednesday as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Outdoor Track and Field "Athlete of the Week".
Muir placed seventh overall in the elite division of the 10,000 meters at the prestigious Mt. Sac Relays held last Thursday (April 19) in California. The nine-time All-American clocked a school-record and NCAA Division II automatic qualifying time of 33:59.67 in leading the Bulldogs at the meet. She was the highest non-Division I finisher in the eltie invitation-only field.
The GLIAC "Athletes of the Week" are sponsored by Hit Trophy.
The Ferris State women's outdoor track and field squad is currently ranked 17th nationally this week in the Division II National Poll.
FSU is slated to have competitors in action at both the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays and the Ashland Invitational this weekend (April 27-28). The Bulldogs will then take part in the 2012 GLIAC Outdoor Championships May 3-5 in Allendale, Mich.
Muir is also among the Bulldogs' qualifiers to date for the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Championships, which will take place May 24-26 in Pueblo, Colo.
