Ferris State Softball Closes Bearcat Classic With Big Win Over Lincoln

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball squad closed out its weekend trip to Illinois with an 8-2 triumph over Lincoln (Mo.) on Sunday (March 1) at the Bearcat Classic in Marion.

The Bulldogs tallied six runs in the first four innings of the game and came up with two insurance runs in the seventh to put the game away. FSU outhit Lincoln by an 11-8 count.

FSU first baseman Alexis Kozlowski had a big game for the Bulldogs, driving in four runs on three hits with two runs scored. She homered in the game and also had two doubles for the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Emma Herremans also knocked in two runs and tallied three total hits while Ella McDonald finished with a pair of hits as did Emma Gillard, who doubled. Second baseman Jadyn Joseph also had an RBI for FSU.

In the circle, the Bulldogs' Cecelia Bell tossed all seven innings and gave up only a single earned run on eight hits with four strikeouts in the victory.

The Bulldogs, who are now 9-8 overall this year, will next head to Florida for the USSSA Space Coast Spring Games set for March 9-13 in Melbourne. FSU will open the event on March 9 with a pair of matchups against nationally-ranked Indianapolis and Gannon (Pa.) at 10 a.m. (ET) and 12:15 p.m. (ET), respectively.
