Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad bounced back in a big way as the Bulldogs rolled to a big 75-49 win over visiting Michigan Tech on Saturday (Jan. 25) afternoon inside Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs, who were coming off a disappointing setback to Northern Michigan two nights earlier, came away with a win over the Huskies and snapped MTU's three-game win streak. Ferris State held on to sole possession of second place in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) standings with the win, improving to 14-5 overall and 8-2 in league action.

Ferris State jumped in front early and led 21-18 at the end of the opening period before pushing the margin to five points at halftime. In the second half, FSU dominated play, outscoring MTU 18-9 in the third quarter and 24-12 over the final 10 minutes of play.

FSU shot only 33.8% for the day, but did connect on 14-of-36 (38.9%) three's and 15-of-17 (88.2%) free throws.

The Bulldogs also had only seven turnovers and limited Michigan Tech to 32.3% shooting from the floor, including only a three-of-22 (13.6%) showing from long range. The Huskies finished six-of-10 (60%) at the foul stripe.

Junior Mia Riley paced Ferris State with a game-high 16 points while senior guard Kenzie Bowers had 14 points and 11 rebounds in a double-double performance. Senior forward DeShonna Day came off the bench to score 13 ponits and junior Elle Irwin finished with 11 points in the triumph.

Ferris State outscored Michigan Tech 18-10 in points off turnovers and 20-4 on the break while garnering 25 points off the bench compared to only 12 for the MTU reserves.

The Huskies were led by Janie Tormanen with 10 points, but she was the lone MTU player to reach double-figures. Kendall Standfest came away with 12 rebounds and Isabella Lenz finished with nine points.

MTU dropped to 8-10 overall and 5-5 in the GLIAC with the setback.

Ferris State will visit Lake Superior State on Thursday, Jan. 30, for a 5:30 p.m. (ET) league tilt at Bud Cooper Gymnasium in Sault Ste. Marie. FSU then hosts Roosevelt in league play on Monday, Feb. 3.
