Ferris State Sets School All-Time Scoring Record With 118 Points In Victory Over Purdue Northwest

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad racked up a school scoring record on Thursday (Feb. 20) night as the Bulldogs topped Purdue Northwest 118-74 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs' 118 total points represented a school all-time best and FSU also tied a school record with 18 made three-pointers in the game while improving to 18-8 overall this year and back into a share of second place in the league standings at 12-5 in conference play.

Ferris State bolted in front early and led 33-12 after the opening quarter before holding a 23-point halftime edge. The Bulldogs also started the second half strong and outscored the Pride 37-11 in the third quarter alone while cruising to the win.

Ferris State led by as many as 51 points in the game early in the fourth period and never trailed in the contest.

Junior Mia Riley tallied a personal career-high 33 points for the Bulldogs while adding seven assists, six rebounds and five steals. Meanwhile, senior guard Kenzie Bowers notched a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds besides also dishing out six assists with three steals. Bowers had a double-double effort in the first half alone.

Bulldog junior Mya Hiram also had a strong game with 21 points, six assists and five boards. Additionally, junior Emma Schierbeek totaled 15 points and eight rebounds with freshman guard Grace Lyons garnering a career-high 14 points while making four three's in the victory. FSU also got six points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals from junior Elle Irwin among others.

Ferris State outscored PNW 34-4 on the break and 46-22 inside the paint. The Bulldogs also held an 11-7 margin in second chance scoring. Overall, FSU out rebounded Purdue Northwest 53-30 for the night and came away with 16 offensive caroms.

From the floor, Ferris State finished shooting 52.5% overall and made 18-of-43 (41.9%) three's along with 16-of-18 (88.9%) free throws. FSU had 12 three's in the first half alone.

Defensively, the Bulldogs also limited the Pride to 37.7% shooting and PNW finished 10-of-28 (35.7%) from long range and 12-of-17 (70.6%) at the free throw stripe. Alyssa Cole led the visitors with 17 points in the effort.

Ferris State will host Parkside in the final regular-season home contest on Saturday (Feb. 22) inside Wink Arena starting at 1 p.m. (ET). The Bulldogs will also celebrate Senior Day and honor the 2025 senior class following the game.
