Issue 4- Inside Bulldog Athletics With The Athletic Director
Bulldog Fans,
At our recently-held Bulldog Senior Student-Athlete reception I
thanked our seniors for their commitment and dedication to Ferris
State University, their team and their coaches. I told
them that, "As proud as we are of your accomplishments it is
our goal that in the years to come you will be equally as
proud of your alma mater and this athletic department."
Nagle and Redmond Earn All-America Status
The postseason honors continue for two seniors, goaltender
Pat Nagle and defenseman Zach
Redmond, as both were recently selected to the
2010-11 American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA)
All-America Teams for NCAA Division I. Nagle received
first-team recognition while Redmond earned second-team
plaudits. The two 2010-11 All-Central Collegiate Hockey
Association (CCHA) First-Team performers represent the sixth
and seventh players in FSU men's ice hockey history to attain
All-America honors. (Click for release).
Bulldogs Play In NCAA Regional Championship
Game
The 2010-11 season will go down in Ferris State annals as a
memorable one after the
Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional
Championship Game (March 15) in Louisville, Ky., before falling to
eventual national champion and top-seed Bellarmine (Ky.) (Click
for release) in the Sweet Sixteen. Ferris State, under
head coach Bill Sall, entered the eight-team
regional tourney field as the sixth seed and played in the
regional championship following first and second-round
victories over Wayne State (Click
for release) and Drury (Click
for release), respectively. The 2010-11 GLIAC Champions
concluded their storybook season with a 24-8 overall record and
were the first FSU team to play in a regional championship contest
since 2005.
Keenan Named National Player of the Year
Senior forward-center Justin
Keenan has been tabbed as the 2010-11 Division II
Bulletin National Player of the Year and is the first-ever Bulldog
men's basketball player to claim National Player of the Year award
recognition. Keenan, who also headlined the 2010-11 Division
II Bulletin All-America team, achieved Division II Bulletin
All-America Second-Team honors a season ago. Keenan, the
2010-11 Great Lakes Intercollegiat e Athletic Conference (GLIAC)
Player of the Year and a three-time All-GLIAC selection, concluded
his stellar four-year Bulldog career by scoring 2,259 career points
to rank second among the program's all-time scoring leaders.
With his selection, Keenan joins previous All-Americans Bernie
Kilpatrick (1963-64), Jesse Mangham (1968-69), Dennis Johnson
