Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University women's soccer squad faced off against the University of Indianapolis in its home opener Sunday (Sept. 7) in regional action, coming away with a scoreless 0-0 tie.
The Bulldogs (0-1-1) wrapped up their first weekend of action against the Greyhounds (0-0-1), who were playing their first outing of the season. Previously, Ferris State fell 1-0 to regional opponent Cedarville on the road Thursday (Sept. 4).
In Sunday's game, sophomore goalkeeper Korinne Ihrke drew the start and played all 90 minutes for Ferris State. She did not have to make a save as the Greyhounds had only three total shot attempts, none of which were on frame.
Ferris State did not allow UIndy to register either a shot on goal or corner kick throughout the contest. In the first half, the Bulldogs had two corner kicks and two shots on goal. FSU committed eight fouls, while the Greyhounds had two.
The Bulldogs attempted two more corner kicks and fired another two shots on goal in the second half, but UIndy goalkeeper Kendall Ellis saved both shot attempts. FSU had six fouls and UIndy had five.
For the game, Ellis finished with four saves while Ihrke did not face a shot on frame. FSU had four corner kicks and 14 fouls. The Greyhounds had zero corner kicks and seven fouls.
Individually, Emerson Lukomski paced the Bulldogs with four shot attempts while Isabella Baron had three. Lukomski, Natalia Leavens, Emmy Teolis and Mae Doyle each had one shot on goal. Doyle, Baron, Ella Wolf, Lauren McCaul and Bella Vallone all played the entire 90 minutes for FSU.
The Bulldogs will head on the road for two contests next weekend. They will start at Findlay on Friday (Sept. 12) before heading to Walsh on Sunday (Sept. 14). Friday's game time is set for 4 p.m. (ET) and Sunday's contest will begin at 1 p.m. (ET).
